Co-founder of Radical Sportscars, Mick Hyde, has described the development of the marque in Australia as "very impressive".

Visiting Sydney for the first time this week to inspect Radical Australia's new Eastern Creek facilities, Hyde was guest of honour at the first ever stand-alone races for Radicals to be held in this country.

"When we started with Radical in the UK we had 26 cars line-up for our first race, and here you've got 18 racing - so you've got a little way to go, but its heading in the right direction.

"The enthusiasm is there and it's great to see 18 of my babies running around Eastern Creek in the sunshine.

"It was good to see that the drivers were having a proper go and spinning off, dropping wheels in the dirt and the like. That's how these cars are meant to be driven."
